The marriage of rustic and urban — antique and modern. Mike & Amy’s love of: restoring antique bicycles, the Avett Brothers, and their equal appreciation for both country & city living are some of the qualities that set the tone for this couple. Their custom wedding invitation set includes; formal invites with belly band & copper metallic cover sheet, illustrated maps, response cards, envelopes, and hand-stamped cotton favor bags.
The Back Story
…begins in Big Sur, California where, during their proposal Mike & Amy carved their initials onto a scenic walking bridge overlooking the pacific ocean. I illustrated this moment on the belly band. Below the band is a copper metallic cover sheet. Pulling these away reveals the formal invitation.
The Formal Invitation
…opens with the quote “all the roads led to you”, which nicely preludes the illustrated map. The headline uses a customized script typeface. The body copy is set in two turn-of-the-century period serif typefaces; ITC NewText & Birch. The rustic one-color wood pattern from the belly band is incorporated behind a Victorian era oval frame.
The Map & Favor Bag
The wedding map features custom one-color illustrations of the church and reception. Coffee beans from a local non-profit group were packaged in hand-stamped cotton bags.
